Foundation / 2 to 5 years old

This stage is called Foundation and is made up of three levels:

Pre-Nursery / 2-3 years

Nursery / 3-4 years

Reception / 4-5 years

At Foundation Stage, learning is divided into 7 areas of development. Three of these areas are the so-called “Main learning areas”, and the other four are identified as “Specific learning areas”. The Foundation Curriculum is as follows:

Main learning areas

  1. Communication and language
  2. Physical development
  3. Personal, social and emotional development

Specific learning areas

  1. Literacy
  2. Mathematics
  3. Understanding the world
  4. Expressive arts and design

Pre-nursery

A comfortable, warm environment. Our experienced staff receive their pupils every day in a welcoming atmosphere, encouraging children to come to school happy and ready to learn.

English from the very first day. Our experience shows that this age is perfect for accepting a second language, and children soon start joining in with the teacher’s songs, stories and rhymes.

Promote self-esteem. Pupils take part in activities designed to help them to develop their physical, social and learning skills. The happier and less afraid of making mistakes they become, the better they will learn.

Nursery & Reception

Positive attitude toward learning. These two years are vital to build the foundation of a child’s future development.

Language and maths. Language and Literacy cover all aspects of language, putting special emphasis on the ability to speak and listen. Children learn maths through interactive activities such as songs, games and role-play.

Understanding the world. This area involves learning about the natural and human world, as well as their own surroundings. Pupils are encouraged to ask questions and suggest ideas, and in this way they start to make sense of their own world.
